DECEMBER UPDATE:  As the fall seminars have now finished up, we are looking for more people to offer up their expertise for the rest of the winter and spring. An Engine Maintenance Seminar is being planned for the spring (see below for more details of how you can help with this planning).  We are looking for more individuals who have boating skills (power or sail), knowledge and experience to share with other club members on any range of topics.  We need volunteer presenters to keep the sessions going! If this is you, please contact courses@saltspringsailing.ca.

Engine Maintenance Advice Seminar – Your Input Requested!

Saltspring Marine Engineer Charles Gallimore has kindly agreed to speak to our Club members at an upcoming spring seminar (date TBA). Charles has many years of experience maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding marine gas and diesel engines and equipment and will speak about the subjects that matter to Club members.

If you would be likely to attend, please answer the following questions and send the information to cruising@saltspringsailing.ca at your earliest convenience.

  • Your make and model of boat
  • Single or twin engines?
  • Is your power plant gas or diesel?
  • Your power train
  • Make, model, and year of inboard engine(s)
  • Any issues you currently have with your power plant and transmission
  • Do you have a maintenance program for your powertrain?
  • Briefly describe your current maintenance program

Charles will review your answers and structure his presentation to provide useful information to as many members as possible. The course date will be announced in the Crowsnest and registration will open at that time.

Thanks for your participation!

Regards

Randall Walford, past Fleet Captain Cruising
