WNR 2.5 Race Report, July 31, 2024

Five Flying Fifteens with a five minute head start, clear air, thank you, Fleet Captain Racing. The tacking out of the harbour was tactical and fun and then things fell apart. A tide change at Horda Shoals and a bit of a lull had the Kay D running for the weather mark and barely able to make it around. Must have been some big holes going back into the harbour, as I could still see spinnakers ahead as I approached the Sisters. From Boulder Bay to the finish line we never got to one knot of speed and slowed once to 0.0 before the GPS alerted us to low batteries. Had to shut it off to save the last volt for getting the finish time…which was: 20.39.56.
A spectacular evening on the water, the sunset was stunning.
