Summer Junior Programs
Junior Membership at the Saltspring Island Sailing Club runs from June 1 to May 31 of the following year, and Juniors are welcome to participate in a number of Club activities throughout the year. The main Junior Program runs from June through the summer months. Juniors will also enjoy a reduced rate on Summer Sailing School classes in 2015 – see the Sailing School pages for details.
Fun Sails
At least once a week July and August we’ll get the boats on the water and take advantage of our summer evenings. We’ll have a safety boat on the water, and qualified Juniors may sail to their hearts’ content.
Juniors Week
The last week in July, our dinghy fleet is reserved for Juniors’ use. From July 25-29, 2016, Juniors may sail with our instructors for a week of skills development, fun and games.
Keel Boat Racing
Opportunities for Juniors to participate as crew on SISC members’ keel boats will be arranged when possible, according to the individual Junior Members’ skills and abilities. These races are usually every Wednesday night during the summer.
Volunteerism
Part of being a member in an all-volunteer run organization is giving back and getting engaged in the life of the Club. One of the responsibilities of a Junior is to commit to volunteering a number of hours a year. This may be accomplished by spending time volunteering with our Sailing School and helping our instructors and students. Most Club members find this one of the most rewarding parts of membership, and it’s a great way to learn new things and form lifetime friendships.
