Safety Workshop on Wet Re-Entry
November 24 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
November 24th Safety Workshop: Wet Re-Entry
We know it’s wise to practice getting back into our boats when it’s cold, wet, and windy, as that’s most likely when we’d end up in the water. Flying Fifteen sailors Kristi Norget and Jill Oakes, with John Hillier sharing his tips picked up in the Canadian Navy, are offering a hands-on workshop where you will have fun getting wet.
We will practice:
-
Various ways of re-entering a Flying 15 (other boats welcome), several times, because it gets easier and safer once you know how!
-
Getting back into our boats without help and
-
A scenario where there is someone inside the boat able to help us back in.
Wear exactly what you’d wear when sailing in November and bring a change of clothes.
15:30 Meet on the Dinghy Dock
15:45 Into the water trying each of the scenarios
Refer to the video on the Flying Fifteen page and contact Jill (below) for more details on how to prepare for the day.
