On Saturday April 6th, SISC is privileged to welcome the Ganges Station Coast Guard Crew and their 47 ft Motor Lifeboat “Cape Naden” and the 7.53 meter Zodiac Hurricane fast rescue craft. This is an unique opportunity for adults and kids to see these vessels up close, meet the crew and ask questions! This is a good time to meet the crew who you may call upon for assistance one day!
The crew will provide:
- A brief overview of the Search and Rescue (SAR) system in the Western Region and information on the SAR coverage zone for the Ganges Station.
- Tours of both vessels.
- Show and tell about the gear they use for medical and vessel Search and Rescue taskings.
- A hands-on demo of the rescue cradle and how it is used to extract people from the water (volunteers may be required.)
