Easter Cruise
March 29 - March 31
Join cruise leader Fleet Captain Cruising Randall Walford on the first cruise of the 2024 season, on the Easter long weekend at the end of March!
Friday March 29 – 12 nautical miles to Portland Island (https://gulfislandsguide.com/boating-to-portland-island-gulf-islands/), where we can anchor (raft and stern tie, too) in Princess Bay on the SW side. Early arrival is encouraged as Princess Bay has only 6 to 8 comfortable anchoring spots. We can hopefully take a walk together around the island before having a 5:30ish potluck finger food social over the dinner hour. (Should take care of dinner nicely!)
Saturday March 30 – 9 nautical miles takes us to Mill Bay Marina (https://www.millbaymarina.ca/), where we will tie up on their outside dock. The planned afternoon event is a tasting visit at Enrico Winery (https://www.enricowinery.com/), which is a short taxi ride away. Mill Bay Marina offers a rate of $35/boat including power if we book dinner at Bridgeman’s Bistro (https://www.millbaymarina.ca/bridgemans), which has good reviews. If you do not eat at Bridgeman’s, you will pay regular moorage charges.
Sunday March 31 sees us on our way home, voyaging 14 nautical miles to anchor on the North side of Russell Island (https://boatingfreedom.com/russell-island-an-island-rich-in-history/). Here we can have a picnic lunch on the beach, walk the trails, and reflect on the Kanaka history of the old Mahoi homestead.
Leaving Russell Island, we cover the 10 nautical miles back to our club.
