RACE: Jack & Jill
September 8, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 5:00 pm
This year’s Jack and Jill race is designed to encourage participation from couples of all sailboats, regardless of their rating. Two separate NFS courses will be set by the race committee, one long and one short. Skippers will choose which course to sail, with the hopes all boats will arrive at the finish line at approximately the same time. All boats are to be sailed with a crew of two, one Jack and one Jill. The Jill is to helm for as much of the race as she feels comfortable doing. Note that this is a NFS race.
Skippers’ meeting 10:00 on the club breakwater. Gyle Keating is organizing this race.
A potluck refreshment and hors d’oeuvre gathering on the breakwater will follow the race (hopefully by about 2 pm), where all tall tales and imagined heroic feats can be related to the group.
A trophy, whose beauty and significance in the world of sailing is topped only by the likes of the Americas’ Cup, will be awarded on a completely arbitrary basis, giving everyone the opportunity to be stuck with having to look after it until next year.
If the weather is less than welcoming on the breakwater, the gathering will be moved into the clubhouse. Questions? racing@saltspringsailing.ca
