How to Join

Notice to Potential New Regular Member Applicants : The Salt Spring Island Club is temporarily full!

The Club is at its maximum capacity of 200 Regular Members. Additionally all 150 slips in our marina are currently assigned. This is a temporary situation only and we anticipate some normal turnover in membership and moorage will occur, especially at renewal time, October-November. In the interim Applicants for Regular Membership will be processed as Associate members and placed on a waitlist in the order in which they were received and as Regular Membership vacancies occur will be converted to Regular status. Additionally, as the Board will not meet again until after the summer break for July and August applications will not be considered by the Membership Committee until then.

In the interim complete applications for Regular (and Associate) Memberships can be mailed to the Club or scanned and emailed to us at:

membership@saltspringsailing.ca

Please note: a complete application package consists of the Membership Application Form, Volunteer Commitment Form and two signed Sponsor Forms. Please do not make an e-transfer for membership initiation fees until the application process is re-opened and you are contacted by a member of the Membership Committee.

Our Vision

We aspire to be a friendly, cooperative Sailing Club that values self-reliance and seamanship, and shares the privileges and responsibilities of membership. We strive to be good stewards of our Club’s heritage, and of the seas we sail.

Our members actively support the Club by attending the All-Club events including the Annual Sailpast and Commodore’s Event, General Meetings and Annual General Meeting, and by volunteering their skills, knowledge and time. They are rewarded with well-run Racing, Cruising, Junior, social and educational programs; excellent waterfront and onshore facilities; affordable moorage; and life-long friendships.

Our Purpose

To foster and promote interest in cruising and sailing, and to develop seamanship and a knowledge of navigation.

Each Membership is expected to contribute a minimum of 20 volunteer-work hours annually to support the Club. Being a volunteer-run Club enables us to maintain affordable moorage fees and annual dues. There are many ways to become involved, and many opportunities to meet interesting people as we ‘work’ together. Come join the fun!
