Thursday, May 18

Welcome Back Day — Saltspring Island Sailing Club welcomes racers to our docks! Volunteer Wharfingers will stand by on VHF channel 72 and direct visiting racers to moorage. Moorage will be available to race participants starting at 1200 hours on Thursday, to allow racers to enjoy some “Island time” before the race and attend the World Famous Lamb BBQ, which will take place on Friday night. (Above: Ryan Preddy photo)

on-dock-wharfingersOur on-dock Wharfingers will endeavour to provide moorage for all visiting entries, however please note that space is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability. Moorage is free for participants from 1200 hours Thursday to 1500 hours Sunday. No moorage space will be available for hotel vessels or other vessels not registered to race. Please see section 11 in the Notice of Race for full details. (Left: Bob Troyer photo)

Friday, May 19

rss17web3Registration Day — Skippers must pick up their Registration Packages between 1400 hrs and 2100 hrs on Friday at the clubhouse. The weekend celebrations kick off with a social hour in the hospitality tent, followed by our signature Lamb (or Salmon) BBQ, complete with live music and a no-host bar.  (Right: Chef Mike photo)

rss17web5Race Day — The morning begins with a Complimentary Continental Breakfast for racers, followed by the Skippers’ Meeting at 0830 hours, when the course, the divisions and the starting sequence will be announced. Lots of divisions (matching up similar competing boats) with lots of starts (reducing the number of boats to contend with at the line), and slower boats heading off first. rss17web4Awards Day — For those crews lucky enough to be well-rested after an early finish, Complimentary Coffee will start your morning at 0800 hours.
We’re offering a traditional Pancake Breakfast from 0930 to 1130 hours, so a hot meal will be awaiting the last finishers who make it in by the time limit at 1030 hours. All results will be calculated in time for the Awards Presentation at 1130 hours. (Right: Larry Melious photo)
