On Sunday, April 30, we will honour our Commodore and our Club by conducting our Sailpast for Opening Day. Fleet Captain – Racing Vincent Argiro, leading the parade, would love to see a large turnout of the entire club fleet out on the water. If your boat floats and moves and likes parades, please be there!
Everyone should be out on the water by 10:30, with the general membership in the outer harbour, leaving room for the officers’ boats to form up behind the Fleet Captain – Racing’s “Velica,” a dark green Alerion Express with distinctive grey sails and a flat-top main. The Sailpast itself will begin at 11:00 sharp. Monitor VHF channel 72 for instructions during the event.
Our Staff Captain, Mike Dawson, will be organizing a wonderful lunch for 13:00, so after you complete your own sailpast, please head directly to the marina, and thence to the pier to welcome our Commodore as he and his officers are piped into the Clubhouse.
There will be a short “just for fun” race at about 14:30 or 15:00 to cap the day. Everyone who sails is welcome for this. The diehard racers promise to play nice at the start!
